Rayla is a Raen Au Ra who grew up in Kugane, her inquisitive and snarky behavior was well known to the staff of Shiokaze Hostelry. Which usually wasn't for the better.. It was there that she met her mentor. He taught Rayla anything and everything she needed to survive in the wild, from gathering supplies and resources to utilizing them to survive and help others. However, on her twenty-second namesday, she was exposed to an experimental version of Black Rose - The result of that exposure left her aether attuned to ice, and her body is cool to the touch, like that of marble. She spent years honing and developing her aethetic capabilities, even learning how to weaponize it.
Until recently, as an attendee of the Dawnservant ascension ceremony in Tuliyollal - she was a victim of the attack that happened shortly after. Automatons with electrified weapons and levin-powered bikes had proven too much for the Raen, and she fell in combat. Luckily, her best friend Tyago Moshantu was there to escape with the Raen - her physical form was okay - but her already imbalanced aether, was once more in jeopardy as an overabundance of Levin wreaked havoc on Rayla. She spent moons bedridden - unable to function without help until recently, she was finally able to start making her way around in the world once more.
